Time has graced this wine, proving the value of Bollinger’s policy of long aging on the lees followed by prompt release after disgorgement. This RD (Recently Disgorged) 2004 is a joyous wine, staunch, cold and powerful at first, transforming to fresh fruit shadowed by darker tones of barrel fermentation. As it opens in the glass, revealing racy energy, a range of floral pear and apple flavors emerge, resonant with a sense of limestone capturing the sun and reflecting it back in pale power. Enjoy this over the course of an evening as its presence shifts, providing varied perspectives on a great Champagne.

Red fruit notes with touches of tannin dominate this wine. It is tight, with a bitter cherry flavor that suggests this bottling needs some age. There’s a firm feel overall, suggesting this will work better with food than as an apéritif.

This is a top class treat to rival any of the well-known prestige cuvées. 100% Pinot Noir from an ancient vineyard planted in 1947 which is called 'les crayères' ('The chalk mine') after its deep subsoil layer of chalk which begins only about a foot below the surface. The vines have deep roots and their age and the free-draining quality of the chalk give concentrated aromas of red fruits to the old Pinots, while at the same time the minerality of the chalk itself gives the wine an elegance and a huge ageing potential. A full bodied, vinous wine, this is no aperitif, but more of a celebratory food wine which is a fabulous match for the likes of lobster or cold fillet of beef.

Pale gold with fine effervescence and an attractive cordon of mousse. Discreet notes of candied citrus, hazelnut and pastries enhance a bouquet dominated by honey. The nose is ripe, very fine, a sign of attractive aromatic evolution. This mature, well balanced, elegant wine has a lively, frank attack typical of the great vintages. Roasted, toasty aromas, butter and pastry together with fragrances of citrus and wild peach create rich, aromatic complexity leading on to flavors of honey and delicate exotic notes. The length is superbwith aromas of pastries, fine touches of hazelnut and honey to complete this magnificent "cuvee."
50-50 blend of chardonnay and pinot noir from grands crus in the Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs, this emphasizes chardonnay in mature scents of golden delicious apple crisp and ripe Bosc pear. Pinot noir gives it muscle, guiding the wine’s richness toward meaty dishes like pheasant roasted with morels. Acidity zips up the finish, keeping the nutty, caramelized aspects in check. Finessed and elegant, this wine bursts with fresh citrus and tropical fruits, piquant minerality, toasted brioche, roasted nuts and a kiss of spice. Selosse’s Champagnes are big, rich and complex--this Grower Champagne maker intends these wines to accompany food, and you’re best drinking them from Chardonnay glasses to release the full expression of the wine. Made from 100% Chardonnay from Avize, Cramant and Oger this Champagne is made solera-style, meaning that each release is a blend of wine from three recent vintages and remnants from vintages dating as far back as 1987; the wine remains in bottle five to six years before disgorgement with just 2,700 cases each year.

An immediate sense of creaminess comes with an unusually intense perfume of fruit. Despite all this time on lees, a very pure sense of ripe, juicy Mirabelle plum is evident. This segues effortlessly into a creamy chalkiness. The palate strikes with immediate presence and inherent balance. A prestigious, classical prestige cuvee from 2002 vintage – structured, full-bodied and bursting with fruit. Elaborated with a majority of Chardonnays from the Montagne de Reims region (70%) and complemented with Pinot Noir (30%) from the same region, this wine is a blend of 17 crus which matured for over seven years in the House's cellars. A 2002 vintage synonymous with richness and generosity.
This is only the eighth vintage since 1976, the smallest hit rate of any major Champagne house. It is a blend of 70% chardonnay and 30% pinot noir, extra time on cork post-disgorgement adding to the complexity – and harmony – of the marriage between the zesty grapefruit flavours of the chardonnay and layers of creamy/honeyed brioche ex the time on tirage and the pinot noir component. The farewell of lively acidity attests to the quality of the vintage.
