Pale, almost colorless in the glass, this wine smells of golden apples and wet stones. In the mouth the wine has a moderate sweetness, with flavors of lemon and apple, and a hint of something woody, like a wet deck in the rain. A finish of grapes.
50% Pinot Gris, 45% Welsh Riesling, 5% Muscat Ottonel
Intense aromas of roses, rose oil and water, refreshing citrus aromas, strawberries and cherry character, light muscat, very subtle tannins give the wine character.
Attractive bouquet of grapefruit zest, over white blossom and fine herb spice. The palate displays juicy characters of fresh tropical fruit supported by elegant balance and a lingering aftertaste of ripe yellow peach.
#10 Scheurebe Trockenbeerenauslese Zwischen den Seen – yes, it’s the third wine this vintage with the same designation – has only 6.5% alcohol and is one of the most amazing elixirs of Scheurebe ever captured in bottle. Pineapple, tangerine, grapefruit, peppermint, honey, distilled black fruits, herbal essences, and sheer ethereal botrytism soar from the glass. In the mouth this is virtually gelatinous – in fact, more like an Esszencia even than the 2003 #1 – with a totally uncanny sense of lift and lightness. Sheer material density and searingly high acidity are tamed like the fable unicorn. Red and black fruit distillates, herbal/floral essences, deep, rich nut oils, generously juicy citrus .. all that and more is in the finish. This combines the sheer essence of Scheurebe found in #5 with some of the transmogrified, mysterious depth of #6, plus the ineffable character of an Esszencia.
Intense golden colour. Complex nose of quince, kumquat and honey. Ample palate, silky texture, superbly supple. True expression of the terroir. Enjoy with foie gras.
100% Chenin Blanc
It is a cracking wine with immense class, intensity and elegance plus firm acidity that provides a backbone for the rich fruit. it combines purity with great balance, while very pure, rich apricots with hints of fruit peel abound.
91% Semillon, 8% Sauvignon Blanc and 1% Muscadelle
All Ogereau's wines are made with the capacity for ageing. Seekers of heavenly pleasure will instantly be drawn to Ogereau's Coteaux du Layon, a nectar marvel of dried fruits, spices and honey, and yet another coup de coeur from this top grower. This is celestial, nepenthean Chenin with overtones of wild honey - the finish seems to go on forever.
100% Chenin Blanc
Lush and velvety, the perfect choice if you are looking for something to rival a good LBV Port. Maury is renowned for the fortified wines of the region and this is a cracking example of how to do it right.
100% Grenache (Garnacha)
This has the requisite sweetness, sparkle, and unmistakable Moscato flavors, but it's got more than that. There is a bite and bitterness underneath, with almost a Cel-Ray tonic flavor to it. Nice long finish of sweet, smooth anise flavors.
100% Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains
Golden in color, this is just so sublime and a model of finesse and elegance. Tons of juicy flavors burst out of the glass, ranging from fresh garden fruits to exotic fruit sorbet. A serious touch of acidity hits one on the palate and yet this comes over as completely in harmony and the right counterweight to great intense concentrated flavors of fruits. The finish is sweet and, at the same time, remarkably zesty. The overall sense of freshness and inner balance is simply breathtaking.
Yuzu is one of citrus fruits, usually used as spice or herb in Japan. We recommend this wine as desert wine or base of some cocktail. Limited production of 6,000 bottles per year.
The wine is clear yellow in color with a fresh and fruity aroma. Well balanced between the sweetness and slight bitterness from fresh Yuzu peel.
