Schloss Gobelsburg, a Cistercian monastery, is one of the oldest wineries in the Austrian Danube area dating back to 1171, it comprises of 35 ha. with a splendid location in historical vineyard sites around the castle. All the vineyards are located on slopes and terraces around the valley of the river Kamp. Schloss Gobelsberg specializes in Grüner Veltliner and Riesling.
The grapes have been sourced from a single vineyard, cru (Ried), Renner, situated on the slope of the Ried Gaisberg Riesling terraces, where the soil structure is deeper and offers more water retention for the wines. Old vines of about 55 years of age. Matured in Austrian oak cask of 2500 liters.
Tasting Notes: Ripe and creamy, but with a touch of horseradish that really gives a kick, this is a very distinctive wine. Long, lively finish, in spite of he richness.
