Siete Misterios Doba-Yej is made from agave Espadin. Doba-Yej is Zapotec for agave Espadin, and they chose this name as this mezcal is different from the Siete Misterios Espadin. It is the first expression from Siete Misterios that is made in a copper still rather than the clay pot. The milling for this mezcal is also done by horse-drawn tahona, rather than by hand like the other Siete Misterios mezcal. In typical Siete Misterios fashion, each batch is made by a different mezcalero, and depending on the batch, your bottle of Doba-Yej either came from Santiago Matatlan or San Luis del Rio. Make sure to check your bottle for these details.

An immediate sense of creaminess comes with an unusually intense perfume of fruit. Despite all this time on lees, a very pure sense of ripe, juicy Mirabelle plum is evident. This segues effortlessly into a creamy chalkiness. The palate strikes with immediate presence and inherent balance. Concentration and freshness complete each other, are heightened by the finest, smoothest foam. There is luminosity, body, and a salty depth that draws you in. The sense of sleekness and elegance is extraordinary. While it will be hard to resist this deliciousness now, graceful ageing is guaranteed.

The use of cherries in cocktails dates to the 1800s. Originally, the maraschino cherry wasn't the neon red thing you see in jars in the grocery store. Maraschino cherries, initially, were simply marasca cherries from Croatia, preserved whole in maraschino liqueur. But marasca cherries from Croatia needed to be imported from, well, Croatia, and this was expensive, so manufacturers started making them here, swapping in native cherries and liqueurs other than maraschino. By the time of Prohibition, the liqueurs were left out entirely, and the cherries were chemically dyed and preserved.
Produced in Luxardo, Italy, these maraschino cherries are made with prized sour marasca cherries preserved in the fruit’s famed liqueur. They’ll take your Manhattan (or Shirley Temple) to new heights and are also delicious spooned with their rich syrup over ice cream or cheesecake.

Finally a combination of sugar and water is added before bottling.

During the 1970s and 1980s, Michter’s Original Sour Mash Whiskey was the distillery’s single most popular product. While the “Sour Mash” moniker originated from the whiskey production process of the same name – whereby some previously fermented mash is used as the starter for the new mash to be fermented, much like making sourdough bread – Michter’s Original Sour Mash earned distinction for its unique taste. With its unique grain selection, it cannot be categorized as a rye or a bourbon. After disappearing from the market in 1989, Michter’s Original Sour Mash Whiskey made a triumphant return in 2012 with its introduction into the US1 line. Staying true to the profile and palate of its predecessor, Michter’s US1 Sour Mash has quickly become a favorite of whiskey enthusiasts.

Maguey Tobala has been exploited since the mezcal boom began and from the very beginning, Montelobos committed to only use sustainable agave that is 100% cultivated without exploiting wild maguey. Additionally, Montelobos does not utilize pesticides or herbicides when farming agaves. This mezcal has aromas of lemon, green pepper and pear. Mr. Black was created to deliver the all-important taste of damned good coffee in cocktails and mixed drinks, without the need for fresh espresso.
Using the cold-drip method Philip Moore and Tom Baker from Mr. Black have created a rich, intense coffee liqueur that actually tastes like coffee; not like caramels, tequila or other added flavours. MR BLACK is made in Australia.
In 2012 Mr. Black was awarded a gold medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in London – the highest accolade ever achieved for an Australian spirit. So Philip and Tom can rightly say: “We’re MR BLACK Spirits and we make the best coffee liqueur in the world.”

Using the two Coffey stills at the Miyagikyo distillery, which were imported from Scotland to Japan in 1963, Nikka have produced a number of single cask single grain whiskies from time to time over the years. This, however, is their larger release of wonderfully exotic single grain whisky.
Sweet, with subtle, crisp, nutty oak, then comes fudge, ripe banana, and peach. The overall effect is like eating vanilla ice cream with toffee fudge and hazelnut sprinkles. The structure is thick and physical, the palate sweet and quite fat, with light hints of raspberry, fruit salad. A jag of acidity freshens the delivery on the finish.
